Questions, answered
How much melatonin is in each strip?
1 mg. That's on the low end of what you'll find on store shelves, where doses commonly run from 1 to 10 mg. Each strip also contains valerian root (50 mg), lavender (20 mg), chamomile (10 mg) and hibiscus (10 mg). Curious why low? Read How Much Melatonin Do You Actually Need?
When should I take it?
Shortly before bed, when you're ready for a full night's sleep. Don't take it during the day, before driving, or when you need to be alert.
Will I feel groggy the next morning?
1 mg is a low amount, but everyone responds differently. Take it only when you have time for a full night's sleep. If you regularly feel groggy the next day, stop and check with your doctor.
Can I take it every night?
The label allows up to one strip a day. If you find you want a sleep aid most nights, talk with a healthcare provider, because ongoing sleep trouble can have many causes.
Is it good for travel and jet lag?
Melatonin is commonly used when adjusting to a new time zone.* Take a strip at your new local bedtime. The tin is small enough for a carry-on and doesn't need water, which helps on planes and in hotels.
How is it different from Cognitive Relax Strips?
Sleep Strips are for bedtime and contain melatonin. Cognitive Relax Strips are for daytime calm and contain no melatonin or caffeine. If you plan to use both, check with your doctor.
What does it taste like, and is there sugar?
Raspberry. There's no added sugar: it's sweetened with xylitol, erythritol, sorbitol syrup and stevia. Xylitol is toxic to dogs, so keep the tin away from pets.
Is it vegan?
Yes. It's vegan friendly, gluten-free, non-GMO and halal.
Who shouldn't take it?
Don't use it if you're under 18. Check with your doctor first if you're pregnant or nursing, taking medication (especially anything that causes drowsiness), or managing a medical condition.
